Do you have a hobby that occupies your daily free time? Some people solve crossword puzzles every day to keep their minds active.
My father had dementia, so I have chosen to keep my brain sharp. I always try to experience new things. Right now, I’m obsessed with Rubik’s cubes. I saw one in my grandson’s hand; he solved it in less than 20 seconds! I knew I had to try one because solving Rubik’s cubes effectively improves problem-solving skills and enhances memory. It was a bit complicated at first, but it gets pretty simple when learning the rules.
I started with a 3×3 one, and my record is 47 seconds. Now, I’m working on an 8×8 Rubik cube. My next step is a Ghost Cube! The great thing about hobbies is that there are too many types, and each gives you hundreds of options.
Rubik’s cubes, for example, are categorized as puzzles, and there are more than 50 different Rubik cubes and even Rubik Pyramids out there; I bet there will be new shapes each year! So I say try any new hobby you want, and if you don’t like it, jump to the next one!
