How can I improve my fashion sense?
To discover your style, you must observe how an outfit works and how the individual pieces fit together. Therefore, don’t worry too much about defining your style or streamlining your wardrobe just yet. It’s a good idea to wait until you feel comfortable putting together outfits and know what types of clothes you like and why before making significant changes (check out this 10 Step Wardrobe Revamp or the INTO MIND workbook for help with that).
Get out of your comfort zone.
One of the only ways to find out your style is by experimenting with a wide range of aesthetics to see what you enjoy and dislike. The majority of people with great senses of style right now have undergone this phase at least once in their lives and can probably recall millions of stories about all the horrible clothes they wore before finding their style. It is possible to speed up if you are new to fashion, though you still need to follow the steps carefully.
An Advice: Keep it fun yet effective. Look for clothes with styles, colours, and silhouettes that are different from what you usually wear, just to get an idea.
Keep your stakes low:
• Walk into a store
• Try on a few items
• If you like anything or dislike anything, take notes, then leave without purchasing.
An excellent way to challenge yourself is to set small goals. Try going into a store you have never been to before and seeing if you can find an outfit you would wear. Also, you can try on that one piece that you love on others but find impossible and challenging to wear yourself, and see if you can pair it with another piece to create an outfit.
