How do you know a caregiver failed to care for a senior?
We may have all experienced a condition where we’re unsure if we have hired the right caregiver. Well, actually, some red flags tell you if your loved one isn’t receiving the proper care you wish.
One of them is you notice unexplained bruises, infections, or illnesses with your senior. Be careful; you may be dealing with a dangerous caregiver. Your senior seems afraid of them. An abused or neglected old doesn’t sometimes show candid signs of harm. Your caregiver may be threatening them when you’re not around.
Ignorance! If you come home at the end of the day and the aide is watching TV or on the phone, the house is in a mess, and your senior is hungry, cold, or worse, this wrong caregiver is neglecting your loved one.
Another warning sign is constant absence. When the caregiver is frequently turning up late for their shift and not telling you, that can mean that they have lost interest. Lack of interest in a caregiver role usually means it’s over.
Next is attitude. It’s natural that the longer a caregiver stays with you, the more comfortable each of you becomes. If they get too comfortable with you, the lines may get blurred.
