How many startups are created by retired people?
Answers
Although the general belief points to the opinion that “retired people rest and don’t start new companies,” researchers have easily proved this wrong by conducting studies that show the most successful entrepreneurs are mostly middle-aged, even in the tech industry.
This groundbreaking truth results from researchers compiling a list of 2.7 million company founders who hired at least one individual employee between 2007 and 2014. The analysis of this list shows that the average startup founder was 45 years old when they founded a successful tech company.
Additionally, this study shows it’s almost twice as likely for a 50-year old entrepreneur to become the founder of an “extremely successful” startup compared to a 30-year old. Also, it’s 2.2 times more likely for a 50-year-old founder to start a “successful” company than a 30-year-old.
Besides, a 40-year old entrepreneur is 2.1 more likely to become a founder of a “successful” startup than a 25-year old. Shockingly, a 60-year-old startup founder is three times more likely to find a successful startup than a 30-year-old founder and is 1.7 more likely to become a founder of a “top 0.1 percent” company.
