If you love music and have what it takes, why should you stop? I think it’s safe to say that almost everyone loves music. Some people are just better at learning an instrument or the whole concept of music. I started learning to play the piano about 18 years ago. It’s been a long journey, but I was miserable at first. I came to realize other forms of art can be pretty helpful.
So I started drawing more, and since then, playing the piano and painting have become more than hobbies for me. But I’d say I’m a painter, not a musician. All these years, I haven’t been able to compose a piece. If you can do it, you shouldn’t hold back. And I don’t think you’d be the only one who writes music as a hobby.

The truth is that the vast majority of composers don’t call themselves “professional,” even when they do it as a job. All in all, while not everyone who knows how to play guitar can write their own songs, it shouldn’t stop you from trying.
As long as you don’t give up early and don’t expect your first song to be a viral hit, there’s a good chance you’ll end up writing some decent compositions, even as a hobby. Plus, it has emotional, social, and health advantages.
