1. Read a book
Whenever you cannot sleep, leave your bedroom and read a book. If you’re using a tablet or an eBook, put it in the night mood because the blue light from the screen might wake you up.

Writing a list instead of remembering every task puts your mind at ease and reduces stress.
5. Diffuse Essential Oils
Spreading essential oils such as lavender helps create GABA, slowing nerve impulses and relaxing muscles.
6. Progressive Muscle Relaxation
This technique can reduce physical tension and break up circling thoughts. You should lie on your back, tense each muscle for 10 seconds, and relax. Start with your feet and go up. Skip the area if you feel pain while tensing.
