What makes a house truly senior-friendly?
First things first, make sure to keep your living room and rooms clear of any extra furniture. Remove anything that may block their way to move freely without any obstacle.
Second, light up the house. Make sure your hallway is well lit. Older folks will wake up more frequently to use the restroom during the night. You don’t want them to slip because of darkness.
The next thing you should consider is installing railings. That gives them something to hold onto while moving around the house. By doing so, you’ll minimize the fall.
Consider buying grip mats, grab bars, a shower chair, or a toilet chair for the bathroom. We all know how slippy that part of the house can get.
One last thing to suggest from my own experience is to put a cane or walker in each room. That makes your senior’s life much easier. I hope it helps.
