Based on a survey conducted by the Pension Rights Center, 66 percent of American retirees currently receive income from multiple types of financial assets. And the Canadian Association of Retired Persons, which has about 350,000 members, has declared that less than 30 percent of older Canadians receive a pension.

I don’t have the info on 2022, but I looked it up online, and I found that in 2019, the pension coverage rate in Canada was 37.1%. Although the stats didn’t change from 2018, the rate in 1997 was 41.6%. Everyone receives a different amount of CPP, determined by how much they contribute to CPP while working. You’ll get more if you have put in more money. In January 2021, the average CPP payment was $619.75 per month. Starting at age 65, the maximum amount you could receive as a new recipient is $1,203.75.

I guess more than 50 percent. There are several options. The CPP, for example, requires that you have your contribution deducted automatically from your paycheque during your working years.
After retirement, you get that money back every month. And there’s the old age security pension, which I think people automatically receive at a certain age. And some companies have RPP programs, which are similar to the CPP.

The Canadian Association of Retired Persons, with nearly 350,000 members, expressed that less than 30 percent of older Canadians receive a pension. That leaves retirees to rely on their savings, which are presently impacted by low-interest rates.
