What range of BMI is healthy for a woman of 70 years old?
Height and sex, not age, determine ideal body weight and BMI (at least not for adults). Everyone, regardless of age, should have a BMI between 18.5 and 24.5.
However, older women at the low end of what is considered normal or ideal have poorer health status than those in the middle or high end of the normal range. I’ve also found that a BMI doesn’t give an accurate muscle to fat ratio.
I got my BMI measured when I was 70 years old. It was 24.2. Others said this was excellent, but I was more fat than muscle. I’ve flipped that ratio, yet my BMI remains the same, despite being physically healthier.
However, all you’ve got to do is find a BMI chart on the internet and measure yourself. It is pretty subjective.
