What were the first signs of dementia that you noticed in people close to you or in yourself?
Early symptoms of dementia vary but commonly include:
• Memory problems, particularly remembering recent events
• Inability to concentrate
• Change in personality or behaviour
• Depression or apathy
• Failure to do everyday tasks.
Sometimes, people fail to recognize that these symptoms indicate a problem. Such behaviour may be mistakenly thought of as a normal part of aging. There is also a possibility that symptoms develop gradually and go unnoticed for a long time. Unfortunately, people may refuse to take action even when they know something is wrong.
