For as long as I remember, I’ve always kept myself busy with anything imaginable. I’m one of those people they call “experimental.” something that has been bothering me for a couple of years is that my grandchildren never spend any time with me. I’m worried they will not live at all. They don’t even like fishing. What should I do?

Kids are all different. Not everyone likes fishing; there are many ways to spend quality time with our grandkids. my favourite is playing board games. And again, people are different if you or your grandkids don’t like board games, there are lots of other fun activities, such as learning a new musical instrument together or watching movies. In my opinion, the most important thing is to accept kids as who they are and not forcing them to like our ideal activities.

I think the best way would be to find anything in common. If there is any activity that both of you enjoy, your grandchildren will show more tendency toward hanging out with you. try to see the world through their eyes 🙂

Yeah, I agree, that works well. I have one grandson. He is nine years old. He enjoys spending time with me because we do the usual stuff, like walking and baking cookies. He even joins me when I do yoga. He likes reading comics, which has made us closer in the past two years. Children like talking about their favourites, and when we show interest, the connection gets more robust.

Thank you. This was very helpful. I think everyone should have a list like this based on their own interests. We normally think we are bored, but the truth is we don’t really know what we want to do. Lists like this definitely come in handy sometimes.

Yes, I absolutely agree with you. Nothing is worth our time if we don’t learn something from it. I think age doesn’t have a say in these matters and we are free to learn as many things as we like.

There is one problem with social media. It can be really addictive. My father is 69 and retired. He used to get bored all the time. Now he keeps himself busy with social platforms, but he is always on his phone. He barely does anything else. I don’t know what to do. He seems reluctant to spend his time doing any other activity.

I totally agree with you. I went through the same thing with my mother. I wanted to encourage her to play games or go outside to have fun with me, but she wasn’t really eager to do these things. She only wanted to stay at home unbothered and go through her feed on social media. Fortunately, she’s less addicted to apps like Instagram and Twitter now.
