The truth is that weight loss becomes more difficult as we age. Many advertisers claim to have the solution to losing weight, but these claims come in the form of a pill. Unfortunately, these claims are based more on fantasy than reality.
Let’s see why over-the-counter diet pills fail to work and what weight loss supplements have been proven to work. So, here we have a big common lie: You can lose weight faster with over-the-counter diet pills, weight loss supplements, and natural remedies. There is no diet pill or weight loss supplement to help you lose weight effectively. Most of them don’t work. Even those who seem to work usually do so in unhealthy ways that do not include losing weight.
However, this does not explain why there are so many natural weight-loss products. The reason is that the FDA does not regulate these pills; instead, they must be safe to consume to be sold legally. But, despite their regular sale, there is very little scientific evidence they work.
So, frankly, there is no over-the-counter diet pill or supplement that can help seniors lose weight. But, prescription medications do assist in weight loss. They fall into two categories: fat blockers and appetite suppressants. Their effectiveness is proven, but only when combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise. The effects of appetite suppressants only last between one and two months, while fat blockers are known to cause loose, oily stools as one of their main side effects.
Medical supervision is necessary when taking medications, as it can cause serious side effects, such as abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and bowel problems. Find out whether prescription supplements are the right choice for you by consulting your doctor.
