How do you maintain a healthy garden?
1. Check the health of your plants.
See if your plants are pest and rot-free, whether you have transplanted them from nurseries or grown your seeds. If so, the infected plants will harm all the plants. Use pesticides to eliminate bugs such as aphids, gnats, and whiteflies.
2. Water properly
Water when needed; too much water leads to fungi growth, leaf spots, and unhealthy plants. Let the soil dry between waterings to prevent it from becoming too saturated. You have to water your garden thoroughly, not soak it. Avoid wetting the foliage, and water the soil directly.
3. Treat your soil
You must refresh your soil over time. Check the quality of the garden soil before changing. Add mulch to retain the soil moisture. Mulching materials will reduce weeds and add organic matter to the soil.
4. Fertilize your garden
Use the right amount of fertilizer and apply it correctly depending on what you are growing. Otherwise, your plants will die over stress.
5. Clean your garden tools
Keep your gardening tools clean to prevent any disease or bacteria in your garden.
6. Perform plant maintenance
Prune, deadhead, and cull your plants. Culling your plants gives more space to plants to grow and clean out hidden pests and unwanted parts.
7. Destroy the weeds
Weeds suffocate plant roots, harbour pests, and create an ugly sight.
8. Protect from animals
Set up a barrier to keep out herbivores, critters, and other garden pests. You can use a wire fence to keep your garden safe and exposed to the sun.
