What does dementia feel like?
When someone seems upset with you, it’s unpleasant. Try to remember you’re not at fault. It happens when the person’s brain is not functioning correctly. They could no longer be able to manage their emotions. They may be unaware that they are making you uncomfortable.
People with Alzheimer’s disease can still have positive feelings despite their condition. They can be cheerful, secure, and at ease. You may only notice small changes in people with dementia from time to time. Some people with dementia don’t seem very different most of the time. Some dementia patients may have fewer happy days than others. Those moments when they feel more like themselves can be very precious.
Dementia uniquely affects each person. When you have a question, do not be afraid to ask! People with dementia may often describe what it’s like to suffer from the illness in their own words if they haven’t been affected for a long time. You may not understand how someone with dementia feels because of the disease’s progression. However, you can usually tell when they are happy, safe, and relaxed.
