What kind of food basket is best to give to a senior relative as a gift?
You can make your own with the things the relative likes. Most premade baskets will have stuff that the person will not enjoy. Put in something non-perishable that’s also in a container that could be opened and then resealed to preserve the contents – perhaps salted nuts or crunchy candy, cheese, and crackers. Senior citizens do not have big appetites, so they might open the package and “nibble” on a few items and then “save the rest for later” or nibble later on.
If they like coffee, buy ground coffee in a can and live on their own variety packs of cereal. Teabags that are foil wrapped in the ’20s are also a terrific idea. You might also need emergency supplies such as canned soup, beans, and dried milk for tea and coffee. Fill the basket with various savoury condiments and spices they can use throughout the year.
