Scrabble follows the same rules as a crossword puzzle in that words are only allowed to be formed left to right horizontally and up to down vertically. Scrabble does not allow diagonal comments.
A new version of Scrabble was released in Britain that allowed players to put words upside down or backward and even disconnect them from other words on the board!
However, those who genuinely love the art that is Scrabble found this version an outrage, and they certainly voiced their opposition. In many other countries, the rules of word placement on Scrabble are still based on crossword puzzles.
