Did you know that the oldest perfume-making workshop ever discovered was in Cyprus and dated back to 1850 BC? From the beginning of time, humans have instinctively rubbed good-smelling things on their bodies. During ancient Egypt, vegetable and animal oils were scented with myrrh, desert date, terebinth, or frankincense and rubbed into the skin. Some believe that women wore scented cones of fat when attending parties. Also, Ancient Rome’s affluent class was known for its body care products, including balms, oils, and perfumes for skin and hair! With these traditions in mind, it’s not surprising to learn that the best perfumes for women over 60s can not only attract the noses of their partners but can also influence their behaviour.

Once we are affected by a fragrance, it inspires how we dress, what we say, how we behave, and, in turn, it causes others to perceive us in the same way.

How to Choose a Perfume for Women Over 60?

You might even say your scent plays a more important role than your appearance. Unique to each individual, Fragrances become even more beautiful when they complement the wearer’s personality. Your scent allows others to recognize you. But how do you find the best perfume for women over 60?

Finding the right scent for you is the first step when searching for a fragrance. The different types of bouquets include citrus/fruit, floral, musk/spicy, and woodsy. For a more feminine scent, floral scents are excellent. Lavender, cherry blossoms, and roses are some examples. Citrus aromas are more intense. Think apple or orange. For an earthier scent, turn to scents like firewood, rainforests, and patchouli. The scent of musk is similar to the scent of clean linen. It can also be spiced with cinnamon or vanilla. If you like having choices, it’s good to have at least two scent families in mind.

Final Words

Women often fear fading into the background as they get older, but that shouldn’t be the case. When you wear a beautiful perfume, you will be able to showcase your natural, feminine demeanour and shine in the spotlight. As Coco Chanel once said:

“No elegance is possible without perfume. It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory.”

For me, Chanel is always number one. I don’t think I have worn any perfume from any other brand since I was 20. But even if I set personal choice aside, I think it deserves a higher place on this list.

I share the same idea with you, Sandra; I could not compare Chanel to any other because of the charm and uniqueness of all Chanel perfumes. I keep my Chanel boxes when I order from their website because of how luxurious they are. My first high-end fragrance was Coco Chanel, and I wore that fragrance for years and years until I discovered Allure. I am waiting on my Chanel order now! My favourite one is Chanel Gabrielle Essence, but I am excited to try Chanel Paris-Venise.

I hear any perfume that smells like lavender is very attractive for seniors. I don’t know about others, but I like lavender, so I suppose it is true. But what about some other scents in general? I mean, what would other seniors want in a perfume? I’m curious about that.

Although I’m not sure about seniors, according to what I know, people tend to be more attracted to people who smell like Musk.

I love perfumes! I’m 60, and I don’t care about what perfumes are appropriate for older adults. I also don’t care it is for men or women. I wear any perfume that I like.

I think another popular perfume for mature women is Dior Oud Ispahan. It is a bit strong but a wonderful fragrance. Although, I’m not sure if it’s a ladies-only perfume. I think I recall a few male buyers.

Eternity is one of the best perfumes I’ve had. However, Euphoria is something unforgettable. so soft and sweet, and I think it’s suitable for women of all ages.

With respect, Euphoria makes me sick. The rosehip and Japanese apple notes do not appeal to me.

I am afraid I have to disagree with you, Logan. Euphoria is one of the few scents I have bought numerous bottles of! I have the original Euphoria and the Deep Euphoria, and I love it. I have owned Euphoria since it came out, and I still love it to this day. I think it is a scent that never gets old, and I am interested in trying out the new one. And also think it is one of the best scents for women.

Next week will be my wife’s birthday. She has freshly entered the 60’s decade of her life. I would surprise her with a breathtaking present. So one of my friends showed me this article. I read it carefully and then decided to buy a Chanel. Because from young ages she till today she is a big fan of Chanel brand. Thanks to the writers for writing this fantastic article. Because it’s guided me clearly, and I waste no more time!

I’m kinda surprised that Prada Infusion D’Iris is not on this list. To me, it’s the best perfume. I think it can even top Chloe. My 62-year-old mother likes it too, and she said her friends keep commenting on how good its scent is.

I am 63 years old, and I have most of the perfume you mentioned above. The Diesel Loverdose Red Kiss was my signature perfume about ten years ago, and I have to agree on how good it smells. The only thing I have to say is that I am a lavender fan. However, I love Libre by Yves Saint Laurent, also a Lavender fragrance. Anyway, my son bought me No 5 Eau De Parfum Chanel last year for my birthday, and I loved it so much too.

Such a great gift idea list! I buy Eternity Calvin Klein every year, sometimes twice a year, for my wife because she adores the smell. She is 45 and has been wearing this for the last ten years…
The scent is beautiful, and I would urge any woman to buy it for herself or any smart guy to buy it as a gift for his woman.
The scent lasts long enough for a night out, and according to my wife, it’s chic!
Unfortunately, it’s a bit expensive for a small bottle, but it lasts a year if used properly…

I couldn’t agree more. Buying a perfume online is absolutely fine unless it’s the first time you are buying it, and you are placing your trust in the reviews and advertisement!! Never ever ever commit such a crime against yourself, people! You’ll easily end up disappointed sometimes.
I personally am pleased with my Elizabeth Arden’s fragrance and can honestly recommend it; however, go to the store and actually smell it first!
We all know perfumes smell different on individuals. What smells good on me could very well smell terrible on someone else!

I ordered a set of mini bottles of different Elizabeth Arden fragrances only a month ago because it is difficult to resist, if you know what I mean!
5th Avenue Elizabeth Arden is a bit more floral than the scents I typically prefer to wear, but I still like it.
A lot is going on with this fragrance, to be honest. Most of the top notes are florals like lily, magnolia, jasmine…
I smell the jasmine most on my skin, although everyone’s body chemistry is a bit different.
Do not buy online if it’s your first time buying it!

You described it for what it is, and I agree, but it is the base notes that make this work for me. Musk, sandalwood, nutmeg, vanilla, amber, and cloves. I love spicy, woody fragrances, and so as the day goes on and the top notes wear off, they become more and more of the type of scent I seek out. I always get a ton of compliments wearing it…

Chloe Eau De Parfum was my wedding perfume, and now I only wear it on special occasions.
I recently bought it on Amazon again, I had my doubts cause I didn’t want to end up with something fake, but I read the reviews and hoped for the best.
Very pleased, great price. I can spritz with abandon as it’s a big bottle!
Quite a classic style perfume, it is very sophisticated. Just floral enough to feel feminine, and it lasts all day.
I always get compliments wearing this perfume; it’s been my signature scent for the past ten years.

Last year my grandkids gave me Eternity as my 65th birthday gift. It enchants everyone. Whenever I smell the perfume, it brings a smile to my face. As the composition opens, the notes of citrus and green are followed by violets and lily-of-the-valley.

I highly recommend Narciso Rodrigues to every woman. It’s probably the best perfume of all time, at least to me. The heart note of this fragrance is musk, with peach and rose to give it a velvety texture. Additionally, an amber and wood veil gives the composition depth and mystery.

For Valentine’s Day, I plan on buying English Rose Yardley for my wife. The only problem is I get confused with all these fragrances. Is anyone familiar with this perfume? Since I trust people’s reviews more.

I am 69 years old, and I have so many perfumes. My husband bought me Samsara by Guerlain and Idôle by Lancôme for my birthday. Mon Guerlain is pretty similar to La vie est Belle but fits better for a young woman, but I love it so much. I recently purchased Mon Guerlain. It was very herbal and vintage on my skin. I love so many perfumes, to be honest, but Eaudemoiselle by Givency, Mon by Guerlain, L’Inderit by Givenchy and Samsara by Guerlain are some of my favourites.

I want to buy a fragrance from the list above for my mother’s birthday, and I cannot choose one. If you could pick only one fragrance for a 62-year-old woman from the list above (The ones I like the most are: Chloe Eau De Parfum Chloé, 5th Avenue Elizabeth Arden, Encre Noire Pour Elle Lalique, L’eau The One Dolce & Gabbana and La Vie Est Belle Lancôme), which would it be?
